Hello all and few questions about MKIV Supra
Hello,
First of all sorry about writing in English. My name is Lachezar and I am proud owner of a MKIV 98 SZ-R RSP Supra. Which btw is already equipped with VVTi TT, so it's actually more like RZ-S ![]() If anyone needs any help with 2jz VVTi wiring I will be more than glad to help. I have all engine wiring connectors described and some of the under dashboard wiring connectors (still work in progress). My question is (sorry if my thread is in the wrong place) how to register RHD Supra in Germany. I saw that it's easier to register TT than NA, but does this mean it's impossible to register a NA? Also I know I will have to change the headlights to EU LHD version, but will US LHD headlights work, or I would have to stick to the white EU ones? What else has to be done to the car, so it can be registered successfully? Hope someone will help. Thanks in advance! Cheers! |

welcome to our board. Most people on here are able to read in english at least ![]() My english is pretty rusted in, just excuse the grammar mistakes and stuff. It is pretty easy to get a MK4 RHD (doesn´t matter if TT or NA) road legal in Germany. There are companies which are offering this service, but thats expensive (calculate around 500€ for a stock TT and up to 1k till 1,5k for a heavily modified car). Our user "Speedmaster" owns such a company (http://www.rhd-speedmaster.de). You can try it for yourself of course, should be slightly easy as you have an TT which was already sold in Germany. All the paperwork is existing in the holy file rooms of the TÜV, you just need to know where ![]() Some people over here did the "Vollabnahme" themselfs, they will post later on I guess. Only thing which could make a problem is the fact, that you have an 98 Supra (all cars after 96 had to pass the Euro3 emission test if newly registered). That Euro3 thing is the reason, why Toyota stopped importing MK4 (Mazda with RX-7 too) to Germany as it wouldn´t pass the test or the test itself was too expensive for the small number of cars being sold here. But I think there is a possibility to get around that too, just wait for other answers or ask Speedmaster ![]()

I dont think that its easier to register a stock TT supra than a stock NA Supra. I own a NA Supra and you have to modify the plastic headlights to EU glass headlights , but i think its also possilbe to install the US ones because they are made for the same traffic direction to ensure that no one who drives on the other lane is blinded. But with the US headlights, I think, you need a special document which confirms you using the correct lights. So change the headlights drive to the TÜV or DEKRA and let your vehicle be checked . Normally if no non permitted parts been mounted (rims, after market exhaust, body parts with no document to confirm the usage with a special car...) you wont face any problems. But with the NA vvti you may get problems because of them been built after 1998, so the Euro exhaust norm could make problems. The Lexus GS300 was sold with a NA engine both vvti and non vvti but with a higher euro exhaust norm, due to a better catalytic converter system. I have a non vvti NA an has euro1, 1994 model. It will cost you about 500 Euro for headlights and a few hundred for the registration.
