also:
Removal of the fuel tank can be done as follows:
Release the fuel pressure by taking of the fuel filler cap on the rear end of the car, after that remove the EFI fuse in the engine compartment. Optionally you can 'try to start' the engine for a couple of times (three will do).
Lift your car. If you don't have a lift use a jack. Secure the car with jack stands; you would like to finish this job alive, don't you? Drain the remaining fuel in the tank using the drain plug. Use a decent fuel can, don't go for milk cartons.
Remove the carpet in the trunk and get access to the fuel level sending unit. Unplug it's electrical connection, if you forget this it will brake and you're screwed.
Optionally disconnect the fuel inlet pipe. This is the fuel filler, where you normally would fill her up. On some models this is not needed, but I think you will find that out yourself.
Label the three hoses, the thick one is the fuel outlet, the smallest is the vapor recovery and the mid sized hose is the return line. After labeling you can remove them all.
Now support the fuel tank with a good jack stand, for example a transmission jack or floor jack. To protect the tank you can use some protective material in between, wood or some clothes will do. If you've supported the tank securely you can lower the tank a couple of centimeters by disconnecting the tank mounting bands. If everything goes ok (no electrical wires are torn to pieces) continue until the tank is of the car.
When the fuel tank is of the car, you now have to remove the pump from the tank. The pump is in a bracket located on top of the fuel tank. You can remove this bracket by getting rid of the bracket bolts.
When you've taken out the bracket, remove the wires from the pump terminals.
Now swing the fuel pump out of the bracket at the bottom end, loosen the upper hose clamp and pull the pump from the metal outlet line.
You've now removed the old fuel pump.
